Did you know:
- Although commonly known as the Black Stuff, Guinness is actually a dark Ruby Red, this according to the company is attributed in part to the roasting of malted barley during preparation.
- The Perfect Pour takes 119.5 seconds. The first pour is at an angle of 45 degrees. Fill the glass about two-thirds full. Let the beer rest for 90 seconds, then top it off again at a 45-degree angle to create the creamy Guinness head.
- The Harp. The Irish government ran into difficulties when trying to register the Harp as a state symbol under international trademark law because the symbol and the Guinness label were so similar. Eventually the State and the brewery reached a compromise: the Guinness Harp would always face right, while in official use the State Harp would always be left facing.
